Hello, I'm Tony Verdun Christopher Lowe - a public thinker and educator with a lifelong passion for philosophy, communication, creativity, and clear thinking.

I have created public content in many mediums, and run both The TVC Academy and Home Trivium as educational platforms.

My Story

Born in England, I was curious about the "bigger questions" even from a young age, and enjoyed a lifelong passion for creative pursuits. Yet, when coming of age I felt lost in this hollow, confused world of ours... wanting to understand what it all meant, but with nowhere to find clear answers or even to know how to find them...

Then I was introduced to the formal study of philosophy when I entered college as an adolescent. I was instantly enamoured by it; and even if clear answers were not forthcoming, at least this was a place to have the right kind of conversation...

But, alas, after studying philosophy for 5 years I became disenchanted by the academic pursuit. You see, I entered my studies with a deep, underlying desire to make sense of things and to find truth. Yet, after 5 years of academic "philosophy" I had learned many theories and could write a strong essay, but still had no clear idea of what truth was or how to find it.

And so, I had to start again from the beginning. With my confidence in modern education shattered, I left academia behind and for a few years found pockets of time to go back to the very basics: what is truth and how can we know it? This study took me back to Aristotelian principles and some of the frameworks for The Trivium. It was enough to form a solid foundation which I would later distil into my book: Life and Truth.

With the ground beneath my feat and clarity of thought, I was now on a journey to re-appraise everything anew and to consider topics in a more rational way. This applied to science, politics, economics, culture, and religion (which, after having vehemently rejected for my whole life, I later accepted to be true).

During this time I was also living as a nomad; travelling between various countries in Europe, sometimes going to a new location on average of once a month. It was during this period that I began to find work as a teacher - principally for English, but also in academic writing and critical thinking. With only a handful of students at first, I soon found comfort and competency in this role, and it quickly developed into a full-time career. I enjoy teaching. I love expressing and exploring ideas, I love the gleam of clarity in a student's eyes when something finally "clicks", and I particularly love to see the real, visible growth in a student when they develop week by week.

My increasing confidence as a teacher also inspired me to condense some of my knowledge and deliver it as courses. Meanwhile, I found different avenues of expression: my books, my podcast, and my YouTube channel...

I have maintained this state to this day. Now, my life is a mixture of teaching, learning, expressing, and creating. As of today, I have taught thousands of lessons with hundreds of students, and have received hundreds of 5-star reviews.

My only intention now is to strive forward... far from running out of topics, I discover that there is only more to say; more to express, more to create, and in the midst of this, if a student approaches me to learn about something or focus on something specific, I only want to be more equipped to help them.

Some Key Achievements:

  • Taught over 3,000 private lessons with a consistent 5-star rating.

  • Authored multiple books on philosophy, theology, logic, creativity, and language-skills.

  • Produced a YouTube channel with over 100 videos.

  • Produced a Podcast.

  • Created online courses including The Socratic Method and An Enhanced Introduction to Logic.

  • Developed the Home Trivium program to help families teach Trivium skills at home.

I have known Tony for some years now. When I panic about an essay he explains it logically and step by step. His style is very efficient and follows a precise methodology for both the research of an essay as well as the writing of it. I recommend Tony because he follows his own succinct plan and will not only make you feel like you can write an essay but prove you can even when you did not think you could!
